Mid-June Travelling

School broke out on the 13th and my kids and I were on the flight headed for NZ on the 15th. 19 hours of flying and 12 hours layover later we landed in Auckland into the arms of my social media star sister and niece in the freezing winter. We drove past my other social media start sister's house to drop off said niece but alas she was not there with open arms so on to our base for the time being. We all went straight to bed, had a good night's sleep and woke up the next day to seize the day, ready to watch Samoa v ABs game that very evening.
I had planned to make the game to surprise my almost 9 year old for his birthday but he decided that he didn't want to come and sit for 90 minutes of rugby while his mum, aunties and uncles drink too much beer around him. We agreed that was a fair call so Mum, aunties and uncles game night it was. My sister was busy making pales tinged with blue for the Manu for us in the afternoon and our good friend Saki from Brisbane was at home early to enjoy some bubbles before we catch the train to the stadium. Funnily enough our darling friend arrived with so much hope and belief that it was up to us to dash her hopes and tell her that we were going to party and to save our hopes that the losing points was less than 10 at least! We caught up with bff and bro in law(BIL) and we went to find our seats. As we kept walking and walking we saw there were empty seats behind one of the goal posts so we made ourselves at home there had our flags out and the fun began. After a couple of drinks we were singing and clapping and doing our Samoan encouraging calls as the tries started to pile up for the All Blacks. We saw a lot of tries that day in front of us by the ABs just not by our boys. But that didn't deter our cheer-up spirit as we kept singing and riling up all the fobs around us to sing along. Result was we appeared on TV a few times as FB was filled with screenshots of our red-faced open mouth cheering tagged from Samoa to the UK.
It was a lovely evening of too much shouting to catching up with friends and foes from everywhere and drinking too much to emotional breakdowns to getting separated as a group. It was a good old crazy night.
The next day we took the kids out to Kiwi Valley to pet and feed farm animals while I trod along with coffee and suck in good fresh manure filled air. A great first weekend in NZ for sure.
